1912 Sindelar Viola 15.5″- Keller Strings is pleased to offer this rare instrument. It is a 1912 De Gesu model Viola by the renowned Chicago maker Frank Sindelar.

This viola is in excellent original condition highlighted by its beautiful Golden Red-Brown Spirit Varnish. The top is of book-matched tight grained spruce with the back, ribs, neck, and scroll being of beautiful, highly-flamed maple. It has a one piece back. The Obligato strings are a perfect match for this viola and bring the instrument to life with a resonance that will please the most refined ear. It is setup with ebony fittings, including the pegs, fingerboard, tailpiece, chin rest, and end button.

Mr. Sindelar died in 1952 and his instruments are sought after with a violin selling at auction for $19,200 in 2013. Frank Sindelar is credited with the development of Super Sensitive (Red Label E) strings.
