Amati Copy Violin Made in 1842

Sweet Old Amati copy violin made in 1842, Germany.  Repaired by PF Hertzog, Lawrence County Mississippi, March 10, 1874. Recently restored by Keller Strings, 2020.

This violin is in nice condition and is highlighted by its beautiful Amber overcoat varnish possibly from 1874. The top is of book-matched light grained spruce with the back, ribs, neck, and scroll being of beautiful, flamed maple. The top has two old crack repairs that have been recently re-inforced.  The back seam was repaired long ago and shows a little warping, however very tight. The D’Addario Zyex strings are a perfect match for this violin and bring the instrument to life with a resonance that will please the most refined ear. Unique Art-deco ebony tailpeice with brass saddle and Parisian Eye. The pegs are new Conrad Gotz ebony.  New Aubert Lux bridge.

There is writing on inside back (lower bout treble side) noting the repair from 1874. The original 1842 label was believed recopied by PF Hertzog in 1874.
