GA Pfretzschner Violin c. 1925

G.A. Pfretzschner was founded by Carl Gustav in 1834. The Pfretzschner family were well known dealers and producers of fine-quality German bows, violins, and other string instruments. They worked out of Markneukirchen from 1700 until 1930’s. Some of the more famous members of the family were Carl Friedrich, Johann Gottlob, Johann Carl, Elias, Carl Gustave Adolph and Hermann Richard.

This violin has a hand-written label including the name G.A. Pfretzschner. Label also states that it was made in 1920, however, believed to be made 1925. The top is fine mountain grown spruce with great detail given to arching and construction. There are no repaired cracks and it is in perfect condition. This Strad model and has been tonally adjusted by Keller Strings to get a fantastic sound.

This well-cared-for violin would do well in the hands of a very advanced student or professional player who wants a violin with powerful singing tone.
