Johann Georg Thir worked at Vienna from 1738-1781. This violin is strikingly narrow and long with a high Stainer-like arching. Wood of one-piece back and varnish of a transparent brown.
This well-cared-for violin would do well in the hands of a very advanced student or professional player who wants a violin with powerful singing tone.
